al-Humaydi

Abu Bakr Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr al-Qurashi al-Humaydi al-Makki was the leading student of Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah and one of the earliest teachers of Imam al-Bukhari. He also studied under Imam al-Shafi'i. His al-Musnad al-Humaydi is an important early hadith collection organized by Companion. He was the first to bring Imam al-Shafi'i's works to Mecca. He died in Mecca in 219 AH. Imam al-Bukhari considered him his most important teacher in the Hejaz.
