Biography
Abu Bakr ibn Mas'ud al-Kasani (514–587 AH / 1120–1189 CE), titled Malik al-Ulama (King of the Scholars), was one of the most gifted Hanafi jurists of the 6th century AH. His Bada'i' al-Sana'i' fi Tartib al-Shara'i' (Wonders of the Arts in the Ordering of the Laws) is a seven-volume systematic masterpiece of Hanafi law, presenting the legal rules in a beautifully organized manner that shows the logical interconnections between different rules. It stands out for its clear arrangement and the way it presents the underlying rationale (ta'lil) for legal rules. It is a landmark work in the development of the Hanafi tradition. Note: may already exist in DB under slightly different name.
