الخادمي
Abu Sa'id Muhammad ibn Mustafa al-Khadimi (1113-1176 AH / 1701-1762 CE) was an Ottoman Hanafi-Maturidi scholar from Khadim, near Konya in central Anatolia. He became one of the most widely read Hanafi authors of the Ottoman period, particularly known for his works on Islamic legal methodology and ethics.
Al-Khadimi is best known for his Bariqah Mahmudiyyah fi Sharh Tariqa Muhammadiyyah (The Mahmudian Gleam: Commentary on the Muhammadan Path), a commentary on Birgivi's Tariqa Muhammadiyyah — an important Ottoman work on Islamic ethics and the Sunnah. This commentary became one of the most widely read works on Islamic ethical conduct in the Ottoman scholarly tradition.
He also authored al-Bariqa fi Sharh al-Tariqa, works on Islamic legal methodology (usul al-fiqh), and treatises on various aspects of the Islamic sciences. His scholarship was rooted in the Hanafi-Maturidi tradition and the Ottoman scholarly establishment, and he served as a teacher and religious authority in his region.
Al-Khadimi represented the mature Ottoman Hanafi scholarly tradition of the 18th century, which combined legal scholarship with the ethical and spiritual dimensions of the Islamic tradition. His works on ethics in the Hanafi tradition remain useful references. He passed away in approximately 1176 AH. His Bariqah Mahmudiyyah is his most widely circulated work and continues to be published and consulted in traditional Hanafi circles.
