زين الدين المليباري
Shaykh
Zayn al-Din ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Malibari (873–928 AH / 1468–1522 CE) was a Shafi'i scholar from Kerala (Malabar), South India. His most influential work, Fath al-Mu'in bi Sharh Qurrat al-'Ayn bi Muhimmat al-Din, is a concise yet comprehensive Shafi'i fiqh manual that became the foundational text for Shafi'i jurisprudence in South Asia and Southeast Asia. It is the text upon which Sayyid al-Bakri's I'anat al-Talibin is based. His work is still the standard fiqh reference in traditional Islamic schools of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and across maritime Southeast Asia. He also wrote Irshad al-'Ibad, a popular work on Islamic practice.
