Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Umar al-Tamimi al-Mazari (453–536 AH) was a Maliki scholar and physician from Mazara in Sicily. Known as 'the Imam' in the Maliki school of his time, he was a jurist, hadith scholar, and theologian as well as a practicing physician. He authored a major commentary on Sahih Muslim called al-Mu'lim bi-Fawa'id Muslim, which was later summarized and built upon by al-Qadi Iyad. His medical writing was also noted. He represents the flourishing of Islamic scholarship in Sicily and North Africa during the medieval period.
