Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba al-Thaqafi was a prominent Companion known for his sharp intelligence and political skill. He converted to Islam before the conquest of Khaybar and participated in many campaigns. Under Umar ibn al-Khattab, he served as governor of Basra and then Kufa. He was sent on diplomatic missions and was known for his shrewd negotiating abilities. He narrated approximately 136 hadiths.
