Anas ibn Malik al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), referred to here with the variant notation 'rad' (short for radiyallahu anhu — may Allah be pleased with him), was the personal servant of the Prophet ﷺ for ten years and one of the most prolific Companion narrators with over two thousand transmitted hadiths. His mother Umm Sulaym brought him as a boy to serve the Prophet ﷺ upon the Prophet's arrival in Medina, and the Prophet ﷺ made supplication for him: 'O Allah, give him wealth and children and bless him.' Anas served the Prophet ﷺ with complete devotion and retained every detail of the prophetic household's daily life in his memory. After the Prophet's passing, he settled in Basra and taught hadith for decades, becoming the last surviving major Companion in that city. His narrations provide unique insight into the Prophet's daily conduct, manners, appearance, and personal character. He passed away around 91–93 AH. This entry is a variant notation of the Companion Anas ibn Malik.
