al-Nu'man ibn Bashir

al-Nu'man ibn Bashir ibn Sa'd al-Ansari al-Khazraji (2–65 AH) was a companion of the Prophet ﷺ, born in Madinah during the Prophet's lifetime and the first Ansar child named by the Prophet ﷺ. He is known for narrating several important hadiths including the famous hadith 'The halal is clear and the haram is clear, and between them are doubtful matters' (Bukhari and Muslim). He served as governor of Kufa and Homs under Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan. He was killed during the political turbulence of the Second Fitna.
