Shaykh
Muhammad al-Amin al-Shinqiti (1325–1393 AH / 1905–1974 CE) was a Mauritanian Maliki scholar who traveled to Arabia and was appointed professor at the Islamic University of Medina and the Prophet's Mosque. His Adwa al-Bayan fi Idah al-Quran bil-Quran (Lights of Clarification in Explaining the Quran by the Quran) is a unique tafsir that primarily uses other Quranic verses to explain each verse being commented upon. This approach, rooted in the principle that the Quran is its own best interpreter, makes it a distinctive and valuable contribution to tafsir literature. He was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of the Arabic language and classical Islamic sciences. Note: this scholar may already be in the DB.
