Jamal al-Din al-Zayla'i

Jamal al-Din Abdullah ibn Yusuf al-Zayla'i (672–762 AH / 1274–1360 CE) was a major Hanafi hadith scholar of Cairo. His Nasb al-Rayah li Ahadith al-Hidayah is a monumental four-volume work that documents all the hadith cited in the foundational Hanafi text al-Hidayah, evaluating their chains of transmission, identifying stronger and weaker versions, and providing comparative analysis. This work demonstrates the hadith foundations of Hanafi jurisprudence and remains an essential reference for researchers. Note: not to be confused with Fakhr al-Din al-Zayla'i who has a similar name but different first name.
