الزبير بن العوام
Abu Abd Allah al-Zubayr ibn al-'Awwam ibn Khuwaylid al-Asadi al-Qurayshi was one of the ten Companions promised Paradise and one of the most distinguished fighters in early Islam. He was the Prophet's ﷺ cousin (his mother was Safiyyah bint Abd al-Muttalib, the Prophet's aunt) and son-in-law (he married Asma' bint Abi Bakr). The Prophet ﷺ called him 'my disciple' (hawari). He was known for his extraordinary bravery in battle. He is considered the first person to draw a sword in defense of Islam. He participated in all major battles. He was killed at the Battle of Wadi al-Siba' (36 AH) during the conflict of the Camel. His son 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr became one of the Seven Jurists of Madinah.
