Alqamah ibn Qays al-Nakha'i al-Kufi was one of the most senior Tabi'i scholars of Kufa, deeply embedded in the school of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). He is considered the primary conduit through which Ibn Mas'ud's legal methodology and hadith corpus were preserved and transmitted to the scholars who came after. He was Ibn Mas'ud's companion for many years, learning from him directly and transmitting his narrations with great accuracy. His students, including Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, built upon his foundation and developed what eventually became the Hanafi legal school. He was known for his asceticism, his careful narration, and his principled refusal to accept gifts from rulers. His narrations are relied upon in all the major hadith collections on topics of prayer, Hajj, ethics, and prophetic guidance. He passed away around 61–62 AH. This entry is a duplicate listing referring to the same narrator as Alqamah at index 171.
