Firas Alkhateeb

Firas Alkhateeb is a contemporary American Muslim historian and educator born in Chicago. He studied history at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is the author of Lost Islamic History: Reclaiming Muslim Civilisation from the Past (2014), which presents an accessible overview of Islamic history from the rise of Islam through Andalusia, the Crusades, the Mongol invasions, the Ottoman Empire, and colonialism. The book addresses historical amnesia among modern Muslims and has become popular among English-speaking Muslim communities, particularly youth and converts. He runs the educational platform Lost Islamic History.
