Biography

Hussain Ahmad Madani was a prominent Indian Deobandi Islamic scholar who spent many years teaching in Medina, earning the title 'al-Madani.' He was a student of Mahmud al-Hasan (Shaykh al-Hind) and a senior teacher at Darul Uloom Deoband. He was politically active and controversially opposed the partition of India, arguing for composite Indian nationalism. His theological contributions and his impact on the Deobandi school in South Asia are widely acknowledged.
