ابن أبي حاتم
Imam
Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hatim al-Razi (240–327 AH / 854–938 CE), son of Abu Hatim al-Razi, was a major hadith scholar and Quran commentator. His most important contribution is the encyclopedic al-Jarh wa al-Ta'dil (Impugning and Validating), a nine-volume work that documents the evaluations of thousands of hadith narrators by the major critics of the classical period, including his father's judgments. It is one of the most comprehensive and important references in hadith criticism. He also wrote a tafsir (Quran commentary) preserved in fragmentary form that is an important source for early Quran interpretation.
