Shams al-Din Abu Abdallah Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr ibn Ayyub al-Zar'i al-Dimashqi (691โ751 AH), known as Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya, was the most important student of Ibn Taymiyya and one of the most prolific scholars in Islamic history. He wrote on fiqh, hadith, tafsir, spirituality, medicine, logic, and Islamic psychology. His major works include Zad al-Ma'ad (a comprehensive study of the prophetic biography and practice), Madarij al-Salikin (on spiritual development), I'lam al-Muwaqqi'in (on Islamic legal theory and jurisprudence), and al-Tibyan fi Aqsam al-Quran. He was imprisoned alongside his teacher Ibn Taymiyya for their views. His synthesis of spiritual refinement with strict adherence to Quran and Sunnah is deeply influential.
