Biography

Ahmad ibn Qasim al-Abbadi (952–994 AH / 1545–1600 CE) was an Egyptian Shafi'i jurist who served as a teacher at al-Azhar. He is known for his scholarly glosses (hawashi) on the major Shafi'i references of his time, particularly his commentary on Ibn Hajar al-Haytami's Tuhfat al-Muhtaj. These glosses clarify difficult passages and note divergent opinions, making them valuable study aids in the later Shafi'i curriculum.
