Kamal al-Din Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahid al-Siwasi al-Iskandari, known as Ibn al-Humam, was the leading Hanafi jurist of his era. Born in Alexandria, he studied in Egypt and settled in Cairo. His Fath al-Qadir (commentary on al-Marghinani's al-Hidayah) is considered the most analytically rigorous and comprehensive commentary in Hanafi jurisprudence. He also wrote Tahrir al-Usul (on usul al-fiqh) and al-Musayarah (on Maturidi theology). He died in Cairo in 861 AH.
