Monzer Kahf (born 1940 in Damascus, Syria) is a Syrian-American Islamic economist and scholar in Islamic economics and finance. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Utah. He served as senior researcher and instructor at the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah and has been a professor at the Hartford Seminary. He has authored numerous academic works on Islamic economics, waqf, and zakat. His book The Islamic Economy provides a foundational theoretical framework for Islamic economic thought.
