محمد بن أحمد بن مصطفى المعروف بأبي زهرة
Muhammad ibn Ahmad Abu Zahrah (1898-1974 CE) was one of the most influential Egyptian Islamic scholars of the twentieth century. Born in Mahallat Nasr in Egypt, he studied at al-Azhar and later became a professor at Cairo University's Faculty of Law and at the Higher Institute for Islamic Studies. He was a prolific author in Islamic jurisprudence, usul al-fiqh, Islamic history, comparative religion, and Islamic thought. His landmark works include biographies of the four Imams (Abu Hanifah, Malik, al-Shafi'i, and Ahmad ibn Hanbal), as well as Usul al-Fiqh, his multi-volume tafsir Zahrat al-Tafasir, Islamic Jurisprudence, and numerous studies on hadith, social issues, and economic thought in Islam.
