Muhammad Yusuf ibn Muhammad Ilyas al-Kandhalwi (1917-1965 CE) was an Indian Islamic scholar who served as the second Amir of the Tablighi Jamaat. He received his Islamic education at Mazahirul Ulum in Saharanpur. He is best known for his monumental work Hayat al-Sahabah (Lives of the Companions), a multi-volume compilation of narrations about the Companions of the Prophet drawn from classical hadith, tafsir, and history sources. The work became a foundational text in Tablighi circles and is widely used as a reference on the companions' lives and character. He passed away in 1965.
