Mus'ab ibn Sa'd was a Tabi'i scholar and the son of the illustrious companion Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, may Allah be pleased with him — one of the ten companions given the glad tidings of Paradise by the Prophet ﷺ and the commander who led the Muslim armies to victory at the pivotal Battle of al-Qadisiyyah. Mus'ab was thus raised in a household of the highest prophetic distinction. He narrated hadiths from his father and from other companions, and several of his narrations from his father represent important legal and spiritual guidance. He transmitted hadiths on prayer, the virtues of companions, patience in hardship, and the Prophet's conduct. He was considered a trustworthy narrator by hadith scholars including Yahya ibn Maʿin and Ibn Hibban. His narrations appear in Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and the Sunan collections. He also transmitted narrations on the special qualities of his father Sa'd, preserving details of that companion's life and practice that would not otherwise be available. He died in Medina and was regarded as a reliable link in the transmission of his father's narrations to subsequent generations.
