Tariq Ramadan (born 1382 AH / 1962 CE) is a Swiss-Egyptian Islamic scholar and academic, grandson of Hasan al-Banna (founder of the Muslim Brotherhood). He was a professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at the University of Oxford and has written extensively on Muslim identity in the West, Islamic reform, and ethics. His major works include Western Muslims and the Future of Islam and Radical Reform. Note: He was suspended from academic positions following serious allegations of misconduct; his academic contributions are noted while acknowledging the controversies surrounding him.
