ثابت بن قرة
Thabit ibn Qurra ibn Marwan al-Harrani al-Sabi' (221–288 AH / 836–901 CE) was a Sabian mathematician, physician, and astronomer from Harran (modern Turkey) who worked in Baghdad. Though a Sabian (not Muslim), he is a significant figure in Islamic intellectual history due to his contributions to the translation movement and original research. He translated Greek mathematical and astronomical texts including works of Euclid, Archimedes, Apollonius, and Ptolemy from Greek and Syriac into Arabic, making them available to Muslim scholars. His original contributions to mathematics include work on amicable numbers and non-Euclidean geometry concepts. He also wrote on medicine and astronomy.
