ثعلب
Abu al-Abbas Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Shaybani, known as Tha'lab (200-291H), was the foremost representative of the Kufi school of Arabic grammar in his era. He memorized poetry and grammar from the Bedouins and became the leading authority of the Kufi tradition after al-Kisa'i and al-Farra'. His Majalis (Sessions) recorded by his students, his Qawaid al-Shi'r (Rules of Poetry), and his Fasih al-Kalam (Correct Speech) are among his important works. He went deaf in old age but continued to dictate and teach. He died after falling from his mount, having been startled by a loud shout.
