عمر سليمان عبد الله الأشقر
Umar Sulaiman Abdullah al-Ashqar (1940-2012 CE / 1359-1433 AH) was a Jordanian Islamic scholar, professor, and author who taught at the University of Jordan and the University of Madinah. He is best known for his multi-volume series on Islamic belief and the unseen world, which includes works on the world of angels, jinn, the soul, divine decree, messengers and their messages, the minor and major resurrection, and the Garden and the Fire. These volumes, widely translated into English and many other languages, have become standard introductory texts in aqeedah and Islamic eschatology for English-speaking Muslims globally. His works are characterized by their systematic grounding in the Quran, Sunnah, and classical scholarship, combined with accessible writing that made complex theological subjects understandable to general readers. He passed away in Amman in 2012.
