Umm Kulthum bint Uqba
أم كلثوم بنت عقبة
Biography
Umm Kulthum bint Uqba ibn Abi Muayt was a Companion of the Prophet known for her courageous solo hijra from Mecca to Medina. The Quraysh demanded her return as part of the Treaty of Hudaybiyya (which applied to men), but Allah revealed verses (60:10-11) distinguishing her case, establishing that female Muslim migrants need not be returned to disbelievers. She thus became the cause for important Quranic guidance on hijra and treaty obligations.
