Ya'li, in hadith chains where only this name appears, most likely refers to Ya'la ibn Umayyah al-Tamimi al-Hanafi, may Allah be pleased with him, a companion of the Prophet ﷺ also known as Ya'la ibn Munabbih. He participated in several military expeditions during the Prophet's ﷺ time and served in administrative roles during the early caliphate, including under Umar ibn al-Khattab. He is particularly known for his narrations about the rites of Hajj, including the famous account of a man who came to the Prophet ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage wearing perfume during ihram and the Prophet's guidance on that matter. He also narrated reports about charitable giving and proper Islamic conduct. Where the name Ya'li or Yali appears without further specification in a chain, hadith scholars determine the identity from context. His narrations appear in the major Sunan collections and in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. He is considered a reliable companion narrator whose reports on Hajj are among the primary references in classical fiqh for that chapter.
