Zakariyya al-Ansari was remarkably prolific, authoring works across virtually every Islamic science. In Shafi'i fiqh, his commentary Fath al-Wahhab on his own abridgment Manhaj at-Tullab became a standard teaching text. His Sharh al-Bahjah al-Wardiyyah on the legal versification of Ibn al-Wardi was widely studied. In hadith sciences, he wrote commentaries on major works including Sahih al-Bukhari. His long life and extraordinary breadth of learning made him the undisputed scholarly authority of his era. Numerous later scholars traced their intellectual lineages through him.
