Abd al-Muttalib, the Prophet's grandfather and chief of Quraysh, was inspired through a dream to dig at a specific spot in the Haram to uncover the ancient well of Zamzam, which had been buried and lost for centuries since the time of the Jurhum tribe. Despite opposition from the Quraysh, he dug with his only son al-Harith and unearthed the well along with golden gazelles and swords that the Jurhum had buried in it. The rediscovery restored his family's prestige and custodianship of the sacred water.
