Hadith #2795
Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الصَّعْقُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ ، يَقُولُ : لَمَّا أَنْ قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ جَعَلَ" يُسْنِدُ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى خَشَبَةٍ وَيُحَدِّثُ النَّاسَ "، فَكَثُرُوا حَوْلَهُ، فَأَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُسْمِعَهُمْ، فَقَالَ : " ابْنُوا لِي شَيْئًا أَرْتَفِعُ عَلَيْه
ِ "، قَالُوا : كَيْفَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ؟، قَالَ : " عَرِيشٌ كَعَرِيشِ مُوسَى "، فَلَمَّا أَنْ بَنَوْا لَهُ، قَالَ الْحَسَنُ : حَنَّتْ وَاللَّهِ الْخَشَبَةُ، قَالَ الْحَسَنُ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ! هَلْ تُبْتَغَى قُلُوبُ قَوْمٍ سَمِعُوا؟ قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ : يَعْنِي هَذَا

English Translation
It was narrated from al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'When the Prophet ﷺ came to Madinah, he used to lean his back against a piece of wood and address the people. When they multiplied around him, he desired a pulpit. A man from the Ansar said: Shall I make you a pulpit? He made it, and when the pulpit was set up and the Prophet ﷺ ascended it, the wood cried out with a sound like thunder until the Masjid shook. He ﷺ descended and embraced it until it fell silent. He said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, had I not embraced it, it would have cried until the Day of Resurrection out of longing for the remembrance of Allah.'
