Hadith #2801
Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ هُوَ الْعَطَّارُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّهُ طَبَخَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قِدْرًا، فَقَالَ لَهُ :" نَاوِلْنِي الْذِّرَاعَ "، وَكَانَ يُعْجِبُهُ الذِّرَاعُ
فَنَاوَلَهُ الذِّرَاعَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ "، فَنَاوَلَهُ ذِرَاعًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ "، فَقُلْتُ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ، وَكَمْ لِلشَّاةِ مِنْ ذِرَاعٍ؟ فَقَالَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ أَنْ لَوْ سَكَتَّ لَأُعْطَيْتَ أَذْرُعًا مَا دَعَوْتُ بِهِ "

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that he cooked a pot of food for the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Hand me the foreleg.' He did so. He said: 'Hand me another foreleg.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the sheep only has two forelegs.' He said: 'Hand me another foreleg.' He handed it to him and he ate it. Abu Ubayd said: 'That sheep had three forelegs that day.'
