أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَ

بِي الْعَاصِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ" لَا يَقْرَبُ النُّفَسَاءَ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا "، وقَالَ الْحَسَنُ : " النُّفَسَاءُ خَمْسَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ إِلَى خَمْسِينَ، فَمَا زَادَ فَهِيَ مُسْتَحَاضَةٌ "

English Translation
It was reported from Uthman ibn Abi al-As that he: 'did not approach (his wife in) post-natal bleeding (nifas) for forty days.' And al-Hasan said: 'The nifas period is forty-five to fifty days; whatever exceeds that, she is like the mustahadah.'
