Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ النُّعْمَانِ هُوَ : ابْنُ بَشِيرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" سَافَرَ رَجُلٌ فِي أَرْضٍ تَنُوفَةٍ فَقَالَ : تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ وَمَعَهُ رَاحِلَتُهُ
وعَلَيْهَا زَادُهُ وَطَعَامُهُ، فَاسْتَيْقَظَ وَقَدْ ذَهَبَتْ رَاحِلَتُهُ، فَعَلَا شَرَفًا، فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا، ثُمَّ عَلَا شَرَفًا، فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا، ثُمَّ عَلَا شَرَفًا فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا، قَالَ : فَالْتَفَتَ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِهَا تَجُرُّ خِطَامَهَا، فَمَا هُوَ بِأَشَدَّ فَرَحًا بِهَا مِنَ اللَّهِ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ إِذَا تَابَ إِلَيْهِ "

English Translation
It was narrated from Abdullah ibn Masud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ☯ gave the parable of a man whose camel strayed on a journey. He searched in despair, then lay under a tree awaiting death — then found his camel returned with his provisions. His joy is like the joy of Allah when a servant repents.
