حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ عِ
كْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : جَعَلَهُ الَّذِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" لَوْ كُنْتُ مُتَّخِذًا أَحَدًا خَلِيلًا، لَاتَّخَذْتُهُ خَلِيلًا، وَلَكِنْ أُخُوَّةُ الْإِسْلَامِ أَفْضَلُ، يَعْنِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ جَعَلَهُ أَبًا، يَعْنِي : الْجَدَّ "

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: 'The one (Abu Bakr) whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said of: "If I were to take anyone as a close friend, I would have taken him as my close friend, but the brotherhood of Islam is better" — that is, Abu Bakr — treated the grandfather as a father.'
