حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، عَن

ْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، قَالَ :" أَوَّلُ جَدٍّ وَرِثَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ عُمَر، فَأَخَذَ مَالَهُ، فَأَتَاهُ عَلِيٌّ ، وَزَيْدٌ ، فَقَالَا : لَيْسَ لَكَ ذَاكَ، إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ كَأَحَدِ الْأَخَوَيْنِ "

English Translation

It was narrated from al-Sha'bi that he said: 'The first grandfather to inherit in Islam was Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). He took all the estate, but Ali and Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to him and said: You are not entitled to that — you are merely like one of the two brothers.'
