حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ : أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ لَمَّا طُعِنَ، اسْتَشَار
َهُمْ فِي الْجَدِّ، فَقَالَ :" إِنِّي كُنْتُ رَأَيْتُ فِي الْجَدِّ رَأْيًا، فَإِنْ رَأَيْتُمْ أَنْ تَتَّبِعُوهُ، فَاتَّبِعُوهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُثْمَانُ : إِنْ نَتَّبِعْ رَأْيَكَ فَإِنَّهُ رَشَدٌ، وَإِنْ نَتَّبِعْ رَأْيَ الشَّيْخِ، فَنِعْمَ ذُو الرَّأْيِ كَانَ

English Translation
