أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَشْعَثُ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، وَزَيْدٍ قَالَا :" إِذَا كَانَتْ الْجَدَّاتُ سَوَاءً، وَرِثَ ثَلَاثُ جَدَّاتٍ جَدَّتَا أَبِيهِ أُمُّ أُمِّهِ، وَأُمُّ أَبِيهِ، وَجَدَّةُ أُمِّهِ، فَإِنْ كَانَتْ إِحَدَاهُنَّ أَقْرَب، فَالسَّهْمُ لِذَوِي الْقُرْبَى

English Translation

It was narrated from al-Sha'bi, from Ali and Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both), that they said: 'If the grandmothers are of equal degree, three grandmothers inherit: the two grandmothers of the father — his mother's mother and his father's mother — and the grandmother of the mother. But if one of them is closer, the share goes to those of closer kinship.'
