Hadith #2277
Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْكَنُودِ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ :
" أَنَّهُ أُتِيَ بِابْنَةٍ وَمَوْلًى،فَأَعْطَى الِابْنَةَ النِّصْفَ، وَالْمَوْلَى النِّصْفَ، قَالَ الْحَكَمُ : فَمَنْزِلِي هَذَا نَصِيبُ الْمَوْلَى الَّذِي وَرِثَهُ عَنْ مَوْلَاهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu al-Kanud, from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), that a case was brought to him involving a daughter and a freed client. He gave the daughter half and the client half. Al-Hakam said: 'My house here is the share of the client who inherited it from his patron.'
