Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ : " فِي أَخَوَيْنِ وَرِثَا
مَوْلًى كَانَ أَعْتَقَهُ أَبُوهُمَا، فَمَاتَ أَحَدُهُمَا وَتَرَكَ وَلَدًا، قَالَ : كَانَ عَلِيٌّ ، وَزَيْدٌ ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُونَ :" الْوَلاءُ لِلْكَبِر "

English Translation
It was narrated from al-Mughira, from Ibrahim, regarding two brothers who jointly inherited the right of walaa' over a freed slave of their father, and then one of them died leaving a child: 'Ali, Zayd, and Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them all) used to say: The right of walaa' belongs to the eldest (al-kubr).'
