Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنٌ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ :" ا
لْمُرَّانِ : الْإِمْسَاكُ فِي الْحَيَاةِ، وَالتَّبْذِيرُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ ". قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : يُقَالُ : مُرٌّ فِي الْحَيَاةِ، وَمُرٌّ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from his father, that 'Abdullah (ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The two bitternesses are: withholding during life, and squandering at death." Abu Muhammad (al-Darimi) explained: it is said — bitter in life, and bitter at death.
