English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Wealth belonged to the child, and the bequest was for the parents and near relatives. Then Allah abrogated of that what He willed — He made the male's share equal to two female shares, gave each parent one-sixth or one-third, gave the wife one-eighth or one-quarter, and gave the husband one-half or one-quarter."
