أَخْبَرَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ وَهْبٍ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ

، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ وَدِيعَةَ ، قَالَ : أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِضَبٍّ، فَقَالَ :" أُمَّةٌ مُسِخَتْ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ "

English Translation
It was narrated from Thabit ibn Wadiah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a dhabb (desert monitor lizard) was brought to the Prophet ﷺ and he said: 'A nation that was transformed — and Allah knows best.'
