English Translation
Abu al-Walid narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from 'Ata, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنهما who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiped over his leather socks (khuffayn). So ask them: Did this happen before the revelation of Surat al-Ma'idah or after it? For the verse of al-Ma'idah made what was before it abrogated. [Note: Ibn 'Abbas held this position, while the majority of scholars consider wiping over the socks to remain valid after al-Ma'idah.]
