حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا مُفَضَّلٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ سَافَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَصَامَ حَت
َّى بَلَغَ عُسْفَانَ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِإِنَاءٍ فَشَرِبَ نَهَارًا لِيَرَاهُ النَّاسُ ثُمَّ أَفْطَرَ حَتَّى دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ وَافْتَتَحَ مَكَّةَ فِي رَمَضَانَ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَصَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي السَّفَرِ وَأَفْطَرَ فَمَنْ شَاءَ صَامَ وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَفْطَرَ

English Translation
Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Mufaddal narrated to us, from Mansur, from Mujahid, from Tawus, from Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنهما who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled during the year of the Conquest in Ramadan. He fasted until he reached al-Kadid, then he broke his fast. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to follow whatever was most recently done by him. Some of them fasted and some broke their fast.
