حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ ا
لَّرحْمَنِ مَوْلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَانَ اسْمُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ بَرَّةَ فَحَوَّلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْمَهَا فَسَمَّاهَا جُوَيْرِيَةَ

English Translation
'Abdullah ibn Yazid narrated to us, al-Mas'udi narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, the freed slave of Abu Talhah, from Kurayb, from Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنهما who said: The name of Juwayriyah bint al-Harith was Barrah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ changed her name to Juwayriyah, because he disliked that one would say: He has come out from the presence of Barrah (meaning 'pious one').
