English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Jibril led me in prayer at the House [the Ka'bah]. He prayed Dhuhr with me when the sun had just declined from its zenith — and the shadow was [no more than] the width of a sandal strap. He prayed 'Asr when the shadow of everything was twice its length. He prayed Maghrib when the fasting person breaks his fast. He prayed 'Isha' when the twilight had disappeared. He prayed Fajr when food and drink become forbidden for the fasting person. The following day, he prayed Dhuhr when the shadow equaled [the object]. He prayed 'Asr when the shadow was twice [the object]. He prayed Maghrib when the fasting person breaks his fast. He prayed 'Isha' when a third of the first part of the night had passed. He prayed Fajr until it was well-illuminated. Then he turned to me and said: "O Muhammad, this is the time [used by] the Prophet ﷺs before you. The [valid] prayer time is between these two [earliest and latest] times."' [A second chain with the same meaning is also given.]
