English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ conducted li'an [mutual oath of imprecation] between al-'Ajlani and his wife. She was pregnant. [The husband] said: 'By Allah, I have not approached her since we did al-'afr' — and al-'afr is when the palm trees are watered two months after being left without irrigation following pollination. The husband was thin-legged and thin-armed, with reddish hair; the man she was accused of [a relationship with] was Ibn al-Sahma'. She gave birth to a boy who was dark-complexioned, broad-foreheaded, curly-haired, and thick-armed. Ibn Shaddad ibn al-Had asked Ibn 'Abbas: 'Is she the woman about whom the Prophet ﷺ said: "If I were to stone anyone without proof, I would stone her"?' He said: 'No — that was a different woman who had openly committed [immorality] in Islam.' [A second chain with the same meaning also mentions 'thick-calved and thick-armed.']
