قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَانَ الْفَضْلُ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَاءَتْ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ تَسْتَفْتِيهِ فَجَعَلَ الْفَضْلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا وَتَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْرِفُ وَجْهَ الْفَضْلِ إِلَى الشِّقِّ الْآخَرِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَثْبُتَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Sulayman ibn Yasar — that al-Fadl was the riding companion [radif] of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. A woman from Khath'am came seeking a fatwa. Al-Fadl began looking at her and she at him. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began turning al-Fadl's face to the other side. She said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the obligatory duty [farida] that Allah has imposed upon His servants regarding Hajj has come upon my father, an old man who cannot remain seated on a mount. May I perform Hajj on his behalf?' He said: 'Yes' — and this was during the Farewell Hajj.
