English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Sa'id ibn Jubayr — that Ibn 'Abbas said: 'The angel came [with Hajar] until he reached the site of Zamzam. He struck [the ground] with his heel and a spring gushed forth. The woman hastened to it and began scooping [water] into her water-skin. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'May Allah have mercy on the mother of Isma'il — had she not hastened, Zamzam would have been a free-flowing spring.'
